Blood Lancets

The American government is going to increase the regulation of blood lancets. I just got back from a panel meeting where the FDA, the CDC, the doctors, and industry and patient representatives agreed unanimously to do so.

Randy, reading Isaac Asimov, rampant dementia in my own gene pool, waiting on a 14-yr-old cancer surviving dog to succumb to dementia --------------aaargghhh. No one else thinks death is coming for them? The last thing I want is to be trapped in my own body in a hospitalistic facility.

ugh - that means the cost of them are going up for the uninsured - and those who ARE insured and need them, but don't have a diabetes diagnosis so insurance won't pay for them (like me)

I doubt there will be much of a price increase. The submission fee is about $4000. I'd guestimate labor for preparing the submission at $6000. That'd be an expensive bill for a car repair, but it's not too terrible for a business expense. The biggest cost would be for a new manufacturer, who will have an additional 3 month delay getting products to market, but the existing products will have a buffer period to get up to code.
