So, this morning started off with us leaving the Davis house really early.
We parked at the lot around 8:45 and walked first to the Westin where Charis was going to wait in line for the Firefly panel since she doesn't watch Eureka and so I would know how to get to the Firefly panel which was only half an hour after the Eureka panel and I was going to be rushing to get from the one to the other. When Allison & I walked up to the ballroom for the Eureka panel one of the Dragon*Con staff guys asks if that's why we're there. We expect him to tell us not to congregate yet since we were 2 1/2 hours early, but instead he tells us to go on in and find a seat. The Dragon*Con TV Morning Show needed and audience and they weren't going to clear the room before the Eureka panel, so we were welcome to go on in. We ended up in the 3rd row, 3 seats from the center aisle. It was awesome - instead of standing or sitting on the floor for 2 hours, we got to sit in comfy chairs.
The Eureka panel was a lot of fun. Colin Ferguson was pretty hungover, but he was still awesome and watching him and Wil Wheaton was a lot of fun. The whole panel had an energy to it that was really fun. Wil Wheaton mentioned that he'd been at the con for 3 days and hadn't yet signed a single boob - so Colin Ferguson jumped up and ran over to him. Wil clarified that he meant a female boob, but proceeded to sign Colin's chest. It was such a fun panel and I really wish I had a written transcript that I could quote from extensively... so many great answers to stuff and reminiscing about the show. Someone asked Wil when he would play a character that we wouldn't feel guilty for liking - he responded, "Everyone feels guilty for liking me."
As soon as they were off-stage, Allison & I set off to try to get to our next panels - she was going to the Sanctuary panel in the Marriot & I was going to join Charis for what had been the Firefly panel and was then changed to simply be a Mark Sheppard Q&A since Adam Baldwin wasn't actually attending the Con (and he was the only other one & Mark Sheppard's role was quite minor in Firefly). As I was racing down the streets, I finally saw a Captain Jack Harkness, walking down a street perpendicular to the one I'd just crossed. I would have had to cross two streets just to get to him & he looked in a hurry himself. I was really sad, though - I wanted a picture with Captain Jack, and looked for one all Con and he's the only one I ever saw... but I had to keep going or I risked missing out on the Mark Sheppard panel - he was one of my favourites from the Supernatural panel on Friday, but I still kinda regret not somehow making more of an effort. If I'd been quicker I'd have run into him at the corner, etc...
Anyhow, I got to where Charis was still in line & they let me join her. This is a thing that Dragon*Conners are really gracious about - probably because you have to get in line so early and sometimes one or two in your group will need to leave and come back(restroom, for instance), so there is never grief about joining a person standing in line. Anyhow, I got there a few minutes before they opened the doors. We ended up in the center on the 4th row. The panel was really great - another one I wish I had the transcript for, but I wouldn't quote it because there is too much: I would have to give you the entire document because so much of what Mark Sheppard says is just the perfect answer and his philosophy behind acting and everything is just wonderful. At one point, though, he was talking about how there are some people who refuse to watch the new Battlestar Galactica because they loved the old show - I cheered (because I am one of those people) and I was the only person in the audience and being in the fourth row & near the center, he looked right at me and said, "Just go home." GUYS! Mark Sheppard talked to me! Of course, Allison & Charis are ready to disown me, now. I will be lucky to get a ride back to Texas.
After that, we met Allison over in the Hyatt and decided that we'd go check out the Walk of Fame together. I still didn't get to meet Wil Wheaton, but there was a corner where Richard Hatch (the original Apollo, who is apparently also on the new BSG) and Aaron Douglas were seated where there were no people. Allison went over to see Aaron Douglas and I stood in the very short line (ie, I was the second & last person in it) to say hi to Richard Hatch. He asked me to take a picture of him and the woman in front of me and then he asked to borrow Charis' fan. After a minute of standing there talking to him about how I loved the old series, Allison came over and told him that I have never watched the new series. He told us that he loves both shows in very different ways, that the new series gives so much more growth for an actor and they're able to get into issues that they weren't allowed to deal with 35 years ago - basically, Richard Hatch told me to watch the new BSG, so now I have to.
After this we got lunch from the food court in the Mall (which we discovered today, just in time for lunch - it would have been handy to know about earlier), and then went back over to the Marriot so Allison could wait for her BSG panel and for some people-watching. I kept hoping I'd see a Captain Jack I could accost for a picture, to no avail. Then Charis & I went off to the MARTA station to meet up with Sophia for a few hours(and see her wedding dress and talk about her reception venue and the church and all that fun stuff), and now we're back at the Davis house.
I should go pack things up because we're returning to Texas super early in the morning.

I really should have started an X-Men subcategory - I saw soooo many Wolverines & Rogues & others, it would be fun to have a count...
