Dark Tower Casting: Aaron Paul as Eddie Dean?

Since Ron Howard and Co. announced the deal they've made with Universal to adapt Stephen King's Dark Tower series, there's been all kinds of discussions all over the internet about casting.  It's been interesting to see Aaron Paul's name popping up at least a couple times in every one of those threads as a possibility to play Eddie Dean, especially ( Read more... )

He would be a great choice as Eddie, but I agree with all your reservations - Eddie and Jesse are two different characters, but they share some similarities that might not necessarily work in favour for Aaron's resume.

That said, I really wouldn't mind seeing him attached to big name projects. Not to say I want to see him Hollywood blockbusters, but one or two that I could actually go see in threatre would be nice.

I'd love to see him doing something a little bigger and more mainstream, too...as long as it's good. This particular project is a huge commitment (2 seasons of TV and 3 movies) that has no guarentee, given the talent behind it, of not totally sucking, and being in that high profile a disaster might really hurt his career. That really worries me.

But at the same time, he'd be so, so amazing in that role. I'm so torn.
