The Hour - Series 2

Ok, can we take a minute to talk about 'The Hour', S02 E01?

i) I love the introduction of Randall.  I really want to know the back story between him and Lix.  I don't know what to make of his character yet - I think he'll be good for 'The Hour' (as in the programme they're making in 'The Hour'), despite coming in and being all bossy and undermining Bel.  And, on a more shallow note - Peter Capaldi in glasses? Nice.

ii) Freddie is back!  This programme wouldn't be half as good without Freddie.  For episode 2, the beard will be gone, don't worry everyone.

iii) Hector is now a drunk, womanizing celebrity.  I liked him better in Series 1.  And why is he hanging round with McCain all the time?

iv) Poor Marnie.  I like Marnie - I think she really loves Hector and is willing to forgive him a lot, but I hope in this series she divorces him, because she deserves better.

v) There is obviously going to be trouble for Freddie for letting Cissy's boyfriend, the black doctor, rent his spare room.  I'm interested to see this, and to see whether Cissy will stand her ground or will be swayed by the racism.  I think she'll stand her ground.

vi) The blonde dancer who Hector slept with (can't remember her name, sorry) intrigues me.  Part of me hopes that Hector will find out who is beating her up and will redeem himself by stopping the violence.

vii) Unlike in the first episode of Series 1, I don't see an over-riding 'mystery' here, like Brightstone.  There are the little things, like the blonde dancer and the racism stuff, which will obviously be major themes throughout the series, but maybe Series 2 isn't going to be so much a mystery/crime drama as Series 1?  I don't mind either way.
