I guess what I'm trying to say is...welcome to the last series of Never Mind The Buzzcocks!

I haven't watched 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' in years but I still got a real pang of nostalgia when I read today that it's been cancelled. Buzzcocks was kind of my gateway drug into British comedy, along with 'Mock The Week', and I watched them religiously for a good few years, and even now that I can't really be bothered with either of them I ( Read more... )

I'm still in the UK but I'm not paying much attention to the general comedy world - Mock the Week is back in 2-3 weeks, HIGNFY is still on and the show all my colleagues have been raving about is Peter Kay's Car Share. I loathe Peter Kay, so I can't offer any opinion as to how good it is. Lots of comedians on tour at the moment and even more in the autumn so there's lot of live stuff to see.

I'm going to Edinburgh this summer and I think just about everyone's going - I'm especially looking forward to finally getting to see Adam Hills (oh, that's another thing - The Last Leg just gets bigger and bigger but I've not got into the habit of watching it. And David Mitchell & Victoria Coren had a baby, if you haven't heard - Barbara Elizabeth June Mitchell.)

This is just the sort of comment I was hoping for, so thank you! :)

I'm jealous of you going to Edinburgh! I don't think I can go this year and it's annoying me. :( Adam Hills would be brilliant I'd say. I must try and find 'The Last Leg' somewhere, I love that programme.

Ugh Peter Kay. I'm glad we agree. :P

Ah baby Mitchell, nice. I see they've followed the trend of giving kids 'old-fashioned/out of fashion' names, but then again I would expect no less from David at least. :P

I felt the same as you about Never Mind the Buzzcocks... I can't remember when I last watched it, but it used to be good! But yes, it was kind of dying there. As long as Would I Lie to You is still good, it's okay!

I feel like I've been out of the comedy loop too--I mean, as far as I was ever in it. I used to have more British comedy fan LJ friends, but most of them seem to have drifted away... :/

WILTY is by far the best 'panel' show. I think they recorded a new series a month or two ago, so I can't wait for that to be broadcast. :)
