Another thing to grumble about: all the cool kids are already posting about HP6 on their blogs, and bringing in Latin etymology while they are about it, and by the time I allow myself to read the entries the whole thing will be totally passé and there will be no point in my commenting. Er, not very well. See, there's a heretofore unmentioned Magical Thingummy that's a major plot point in Book Six, and it's named in what JKR calls "cod Latin," only (a) it's difficult to figure out what the first half means, and (b) the plural's Anglicized, which sounds icky in this case.

It's much more entertaining with specifics, honest.
