I was just the opposite...
I picked up the book because it was the only thing around my house to read at the time. I loved it. (dont judge me to harshly please)haha. i didnt even find out there was going to be a movie made until after I had finished with Eclipse.
I love Rob as Edward but Bella didnt do it for me. I think it was just because the ventured too far away from the book when shooting the movie.

Hey, thanks for commenting! No worries, the book has many fans and I am not judging those who love it. Certainly there is something about the plot line that struck a chord.

I was reversed: saw the film; read the book. My friend had the same reaction you did: she didn't like Kristen's Bella. I think her characterization came off a bit harder in the film than in the book: she seemed very sullen onscreen. That could have been the director though. It was her chemistry with Rob's Edward that elevated the film.
