On Friday, while I was driving back from class on my scooter, I reached an intersection just as the light was turning yellow. A driver coming in the opposite direction made an accelerated left turn to beat the light. I collided with the front right corner of her car and was thrown from my scooter, over her car, and landed in the street on the other ( Read more... )

i liked the drama-queen version better
but
do tell me, how does someone in your condition manage to type all this....

ps. I'm no stranger to getting hit by cars (frequently) and suffering broken bones - so I know what you're going through...

Get well soon..

Thanks for the well wishes. As for how I can type all of this, I had to do it one handed. (Actually, that's not totally true. I can use my right hand enough to press the shift key, but that's about it.) And since I am stuck in bed, what else better do I have to do now that I have watched all of Season one of Alias on DVD?

Can't do AIM. For some reason it blows up on my computer. I am stuck with MSN: ctys0n@hotmail.com (with a zero).

Oh my god - that sounds horrible!! I'm glad you're ok.

Amazing you can keep a sense of humor about it all - "I like red, but it just doesn’t go with the ace bandages." Loved that!!

Get well soon!

I've found that being in a shitty mood accomplishes very little, so I avoid them whenever possible. Life is like a game. In the end, all that really matters is, "did you have fun?" Yeah, I'm a little broken right now, but I am trying to make the best of it. Being pissy doesn't change the fact that what happened happened and there isn't much I can do but make the best of it. When life gives you lemons, make a lemon-cheese tart with fresh strawberries and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on the side...either that or a just cram a slice into a corona and give it to me.

Thanks for the good wishes.

It's nice to know there are some die-hard optimists out there. You're a good compliment to us jaded New Yorkers. ;P

Geez, I thought I was having a moderately bad day. *shrug* At least you will recover from this, and you get a decent amount of money. :)

I had a really bad car accident about a year and a half ago now, but luckily I didn't need any surgery. I know what you're talking about though, when you say how much pain and discomfort you're feeling. Anyway, with reference to the lawyer: if the driver's car is only insured for minimum insurance, which it probably is since she was a kid, you're probably only going to get $25,000 max if you win, and your lawyer will probably take at least 1/3 of that as his compensation. I just went through this, and seriously, it's a huge hassle! Good luck!
