Baby-proofing my WHOLE house...

I feel like I need to let Conner explore more to his house than just the living room. I feel bad that I am only allowing him to play and be in the living room. He doesn't play in his room because it isn't baby proofed. Sounds silly but there are things that he could climb on and get hurt and other things, like his fan that I have to move every ( Read more... )

Man, I don't know how to babyproof. It sux. You just let the kid free, and whatever he seems to get into all the time, start there.

Yeah, my kids now? Can totally get 6 feet up off the floor and into the top shelf of EVERYTHING. So I went through a thing for a while where I just locked doors. I just recently put a child lock on the fridge. Last year it was child locks on every door handle. The year before, it was cabinet locks on every single freakin cabinet in the house. The year before that ... starting to go way back here ... challenge my brain ... seems like I owned like 8 or 10 baby gates and just sectioned off areas of the house so they could only destroy a little of it at a time.

What you do in the kitchen is lock every cabinet and drawer except for maybe one bottom drawer somewhere, and let Conner play with the plastic containers there. Or something. They make toilet seat locks which my kids never seemed to be preoccupied with the toilets, thank goodness.

We actually haven't done all that much in the way of babyproofing, and Rylan is ALL over our house... So far he's just had one boo boo (from when Kyle left the cover to his razor on the floor in our room by mistake and Rylan, of course, played with it and cut his finger a little). I just keep a constant eye and ear out for him. I do kind of follow him periodically and then childproof here and there as we go...
