Yep, it's that time. 18 months to about 28 months is bad for that sort of thing, in my short experience. I remember Justin saying "we're never going out to eat with her again!"
Honestly, keep doing it. Bring toys. Bring snacks. Bring anything you can. And talk to him, because they have to learn how to behave in public. lol
So true. That might have been part of the problem... I didn't have anything for him to look at or play with. But I am not sure if that would have helped tonight. It was probably too late, he was to pissed, and he'd been fussy all day. But he totally needs to learn how to behave in public.
I think it depends on the kid, and Conner has been a sweetie up to this point. It sounds like he's just going to go through a stage and then get over it. Deb and Dave have always taken their kids out to eat. Elliot is so energetic (to say it nicely) that really only RECENTLY has Tim agreed to go out with the kiddies. In fact, just last night we went and had a nice family dinner out at a tex steakhouse in town and both kids behaved for a whole hour. It was the first time I could remember. So for Elliot, we stopped from like 1 year or earlier (when he could run away) and still to this day do not take him out regularly (5.5 yrs.) But Clara's never been a problem. She's pretty normal to take out to eat most of the time. I think you have to wait a year or so before Conner grows out of this stage - or maybe like Tabi says - with practice, he'll just learn. We never went out to eat enough to really teach our kids anyway, so it was just easier for us to simply not go out very often. Cheaper, too

I tried to call you tonight during this whole fiasco while I was outside smoking (shhh... I needed it after the stressful event) but you didn't answer. :/ At least I can still strap Conner into a highchair! Wish they had seat belts on every seat. :)
This was us with Rylan during the last half of our Mexico trip in December. Rylan was so DONE being in a highchair in a restaurant 3x a day, he threw a fit each time... We haven't done anything but fastfood restaurants with him since!
