So a lot of my friends and I wanted to go to the movies tonight. It's an "animated" movie so I thought about taking Karma. When I realized how tired she would be, I chose not to attend. Then some friends inadvertently made me feel guilty, so I took Karma to the movies with us. Just at the climax of the movie, one friend began getting irritated ( Read more... )

Some battles aren't worth the fight hon. Maybe take Karma back to the movie on the weekend, for a matinee or something. Your friends...well, they need to respect your decision in the beginning when you say it would not be in your child's best interest. *hugs you*

Adults don't need to be in theatres with children unless they can get over themselves.

You're learning, and plenty of better opportunities for social time will return, so it's nothing to sweat over.

I have to say, I'm the kind of person who dislikes noise in a theater when I'm watching a movie. They're just too pricey these days.

So...I simply don't go to movies where there will be a lot of kids (if I'm in an intolerant mood at that time) or, I go to movies when kids are in school or asleep (preferably very late at night and after said movie has been out for long enough to lessen the crowd.)

That said...I sure as hell wouldn't have given poor Karma (or any other kid) harassment for being a kid. I might have moved myself, or just put up with it. Even if the mom was a friend. Being the friend of a mother doesn't give you the right to be an asshat.

You're doing fine, I think. Not your fault and its not a situation that comes up often, so you had to make a quick choice. Hard to do so without having experienced it before. *hugs* :)
