...I had the most horrible nightmare last night. I had to leave the house after the cold sweats and the shaking stopped. It was the most...horrifying thing I had ever seen in a long time. If you really want to know my story, here it is.
It was a dark rainy night...in the middle of nowhere. My car, on the side of the road, flipped over and wrecked. I laid on the side of the road in a pool of my own blood, letting the rain fall all over me and washing it off around me.
She laid a few feet away from me, I was unaware she had made it out. And it looked like she wasnt moving.
There he was. Standing over me, like Death had come to find me. The shadows illuminated his figure, but nothing else. I didnt need light to know who it was. He had found us.
'So, this is the great Spike Spiegel. Couldnt run forever, could you?" That deep voice boomed, sounding a lot worse since my head was pounding like a rapid jackhammer."I've waited to see you like this for a long time now."
I coughed, blood pouring from the side of my mouth. Reaching inside my jacket, I tried to pull out my gun and point it at him. He just kicked it away, skidding it across the concrete road into the grass.'You...bastard..' I snarled."Couldnt leave well enough alone after I beat you the first time..."
"Look whos the beaten one now," A kick doubled me over onto my back, as I spit blood into the air. I laid there, unable to move. Pain scorched through my body."You took everything away from me...now I think its only fair-and appropriate- I do the same for you." Another kick, almost had me in tears.
I could hear the sword become unsheathed. The blade glistened in the dark night. I saw the point coming down towards my neck. Then, it stopped a mere inch or two from me. Paused silence between the falling raindrops. It felt like an eternity, laying there, helpless like a newborn child at the mercy of the world.
Until he spoke again."No...I want you to suffer. I want you to live with the pain and suffering. And the fact that you know I have finally defeated you...and now you're alone."
I couldnt speak, between pain racking my body and blood gurgling in my mouth. I think he left, but only after an eternity of waiting. Looking over, I still saw she was unmoving. Julia. The love of my life...the one who had my ring on her finger and my child inside her.
Slowly, painfully, I began crawling towards her. It was even slower than a turtle's pace, and much more aggravating to watch. I finally reached her.
"Julia...speak to...me"
Silence. I maanaged to sit up before gathering her cold, wet body in my arms. Her eyes were glazed over, and all the life had seemed to just fade from her.
"Julia...please dont leave me...I'm nothing without you."
She stirred ever so slightly, shifting a bit in my arms. Her lips moved a tiny bit.
"Never stopped...loving...."
A long, painful silence. The look i'll never forget.
"You....."
And then she was gone.
For the first time in my life, I felt tears rolling down my face. And a bloodcurdling yell emitted from my mouth that could be heard for miles and miles.
And I fear the same thing will be happening again...because he's back. Hes the only one that I want to escape from. I'm not running anymore.
