Math 'n Stuff

Yesterday the snow had finally melted away enough for me to feel comfortable venturing out. I went for a drive through Seattle. Much of it still had large chunks of ice and mountains of snow strewn about the city streets. It was so lovely just to be out and, for the large part, not to have to worry about chains and whether or not using the brakes was a good idea. And then, while driving around aimlessly, it HAPPENED. The answer to my math wet dreams: Math 'n Stuff. That's right, a store called Math 'n Stuff. I nearly drove off the road as I turned in my seat in shock. I have literally sat and daydreamed about how neat it would be if there were real stores devoted to math. Of course I turned around and went in. It was mostly for children. It was filled with chemistry sets and science puzzlers. It had math toys galore as well as logic board games and math books aiming more toward the math educated adult. I managed to reign in my consumerism and only bought a Go board (my old one was lost in a storage mishap). There were even t-shirts there with various math jokes. My favorite one there had a superman logo with a pi symbol instead of an "S". It's not as good as the math t-shirt I saw in school once: "Math students against drunk deriving. Know your limits." But still a good shirt.

In other news, I'm considering applying to an online master's course through Texas A&M in Statistics. It's one of the few such courses I've seen. It's through an actual accredited university that has a decent reputation as opposed to the generic MBA from good ole University of Phoenix. Still considering and I may not even be accepted so who knows. It's a nice thought though.

I'm taking a break from studying for the test for the Corporate Finance course I'm taking for work. The test is a week from Wednesday. The material is pretty simple, so hopefully it won't be that bad.

exams, math, plans
