Hi there, my name's Leslie, and I'm a freshman at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Cambridge, MA. I'm originally from Orlando, FL. I hope this community really takes off because I think it's an awesome idea. I really would have liked to have seen something like this when I was a senior. hey I know that this post is a little old, but I just came across it. I've been considering MIT, and i won't find out whether I get in until april, but I too am from florida, and I wanted to know what you think of the school. I'd just be really worried about going there, mainly becuase I plan to major in Political Science, and I'm not sure if I could hack it in the sciene required classes. If you could just let me know what you think, or if you know anything abotu the poly sci program I would really appreciate it.

I am a sophomore/junior at MIT (I took sophomore standing the second term of my first year), and I also happen to be a political science major.

If you have any questions, you've got my journal name, and I'm also Aseria51 on AIM.

hey im in high school in ca and thinking about going to mit. i visited last summer but basically wandered around by myself for a while. i dont really know what i want to do yet, but im thinking biotech, language (esp. spanish), poli sci, i actually dont really know. ive done drama and musical theater almost my whole life and i love both, but i dont want to pursue careers in either. is there any low-key way to stay involved in performing arts if its not your main focus? i liked the little i did see of mit. and i loved boston! i have a good gpa and i go to a private school, but ive had bad luck w/ admissions in the past and am wondering if you could give me any info on what it really takes to get in. thank you! i know this post is old, sorry.

There are tons of performing arts groups here..a lot of people are involved in that sort of thing. You'll easily find something. Many are listed here. You can check out their sites through the links. And if you email someone through the website, they'll be more than happy to give you more info.

You might have already looked at our majors, but if you're interested in biotech the first things that come to my mind are course 7 (biology), BE (Biological engineering division), and we do have a Biomedical engineering minor. BE isn't a major yet, but it probably will be for your class.

For languages/spanish: Course 21F (foreign lang. and lit). And for political science, course 17 (poli sci). Again, if you email anyone through these sites, they'd be able to give you more info..I actually plan on majoring in course 16 (aero/astro), so I don't know too much about them ( ... )
