this excerpt resonates with me too. it seems like mid-twenties certainly have the train passing feeling regardless of location, but new york does seem to dramatize or magnify that tension. i know i'm not happy here but in many ways it seems stupid to leave, partially because getting older is learning what parts of your history follow you everywhere and keep giving you trouble. it's like, i might as well have fun places to get dinner in the mean time.
