World of Warcraft bans GLBT-Friendly guild, and OMFG the doubletalk is like whoa.

*jaw drops* Wow. I mean, WoW = THE STUPID. They're using the policy that supposedly there to ~protect~ GLBT players to discriminate against GLBT players. My mind, she is blown.

This is sorta old news. I heard about this a while ago when things were still brewing. The girl threatened legal action, contacting the ACLU, etc. But the more I read about the topic, the more I started to see where Blizzard was comming from.

They were looking to keep real world politics out of their fantasy role playing game. The girl was using the game's public channels to promote her guild, which likely upset someone (in the same way that a guild for blacks, Asians, or any other specific group could have) and said person reported her.

Since the dispute, they've created a seperate channel for guild recruitment, so any future advertising won't disrupt the atmosphere of the game. They have actually appologized to the girl, but from what I've read, she's been sorta snooty about the whole thing.

While I don't necessarily agree with how Blizzard handled the situation, I do see where they're comming from. A lot of the information published on the net was heavily biased towards the girl.
