[A thin man appears on the Plane with no to-do. There's no fanfare or applause. He scowls and looks around the expanse of space before opening what appears to be a bottle of pills, shakes two out, and pops them in his mouth

[Oliver approaches cautiously but with a friendly expression all the same. he looks Ray in the eyes immediately, much like he did with Weber and the King, hoping to put his empathy to good use before Ray notices what he's doing]
Hey. [waves] Uh...what do you mean, we make you sick? Have we met before?
[Ray's a teeming mass of annoyance and a sense of wanting to just get out with some tiredness in and out.
He sneers.]
We haven't, Mr. Day, but your presence is literally sickening. As in, if I hadn't taken my medication to dampen my senses, you'd be giving me a migraine, maybe make me a little dizzy.
[Oliver tries not to let the feeling of Ray's annoyance seep into his own response, but he does wrinkle his nose at the name--both because his father is Mr Day and because Ray knows his name already, which is never comforting. he can't help his tone being a little sour when he response] So you know all about us, too?
And because I can sense things. You, for example, fall under the range of psychic. Not broad range can do everything under the sun psychic, but more focal and specific.
I'm not--[but he stops speaking abruptly, a rather disturbed look crossing his face]--oh. [quickly] It's not--I mean, before I started coming here, I couldn't... [he flails a little. because after all this time, he still feels the need to justify the ability]
Give the man a prize for putting two and two together. Yeah, it does. Of course, not just that, either. The undead, vampires, werewolves, magic users, anything generally inhuman, magical, or beyond the realm of normal human understanding sets me off.
[Ray crosses his arms stiffly.]
There, now you know all about the thing I hate the most in my life, aren't you special.
[Oliver is totally human! but he can feel Ray's annoyance well enough to know not to press the point--and maybe he doesn't want to be directly told he isn't]
So...why run the Plane if we all make you sick? Did Meredith want you to?
I don't work for Meredith. I work alongside her, but with a different group. Jed is my... employer. If he wants something done, and chooses me to do it, I have no choice.
As in 'not willingly'. As in, if I try to not do what he wants, he will continue to push it more and more into my life until there's nothing I can do but what he wants.
[that sounds rather like what coming to the Plane is like--whether or not you like it, you'll always end up there eventually. Oliver frowns, feeling rather sympathetic] How'd he find you?
I don't know. But he put me, Sergei, and Holden together. Neither of them have access to this place, they're just people back home for me. Nevermind, though, it isn't important.
