[a tall man in steel-colored body armor with yellow trim is currently very engaged with perusing the brochures at the information kiosk, a holographic version hovering at a comfortable height for him to read. after a moment, he waves a hand to dismiss the brochure, but underneath that helmet, he's blinking, unsure if someone is just pulling his ( Read more... )

Ah -- I'm pretty sure that you can't call people on the Plane unless they're also here, Mister.

[Tiny Japanese kid -- just what everyone wants to find on their Astral Plane.]

What? [looks around for the source of the voice--really, he didn't think he'd need to set his motion tracker while he's off-duty--then sees the tiny kid.] Um...thanks. But shouldn't you be in school or something? Or at least accompanied by an adult?

Don't think the Astral Plane really bothers with either of those things!

Well, it should. There are enough buildings around here that I'm surprised there isn't a school.

[he lets out a little sigh, wondering what to do with the kid. a part of him is really glad he isn't armed right now. not...that he'd worry too much if the kid got a hold of his weapons; he always keeps the safety on when he's not going into a combat situation] So, as you probably heard, I'm Agent Washington. What's your name?

It's not really their fault. You can't communicate with anyone off the Plane when you're here. [Have a smiling blond who has his hands shoved in his jacket pockets]

[even if one could see his face, he isn't smiling back yet. he might be disapproving of the length of Dino's hair] That's ridiculous! It doesn't say anywhere in this informational kiosk--[gestures at it]--about communications being jammed the moment you come here. [so basically, it's someone's fault.]

[Since Dino hadn't read any of the brochures, this does came as a surprise to him] Maybe someone should talk to the person who made it then, and have it added in. But even without it there, it's the truth that we're a cut off from home while were here.

Oh, I plan to, all right. [but for now, he just takes a paper copy of both brochures and stuffs those into a protective hard-case on his waist]

Is there some sort of security system or internal policing unit here in case there's trouble of any kind? [but as soon as he says that, he has his doubts. that seems like the sort of thing that would have been mentioned]

[cocks his head to the side, regarding her. he can tell he's being teased, but damnit, he's annoyed by this] Really. And how would you know?

[his sarcasm levels easily rise to the occasion] You know, for a welcome wagon, I'm surprised you didn't come with a half-eaten gift basket and expired coupons for the local two-star restaurant. I'd almost be disappointed if I'd been expecting anything at all.

[Oh. My. God. This place is filled with really, really annoying people, and all South wants right now is to just find a corner and get away from everyone. So they stop asking her questions, and staring at her armor, and basically being idiots, and--

... Speaking of annoying people.

As tempted as she is to dodge him just like she wants to dodge everyone else she's run into so far in this goddamn place... well, at least he's familiar. ... Ugh.]

Radio silence here. It isn't jammed, it just doesn't exist. Don't bother.

[he lets out a little sigh. great. she isn't exactly the top person he'd pick to be stuck some place like this, but at least she's someone he knows]

Yeah. I gathered that. You'd think someone would bother explaining that. I should let this...Broderick Naismith know he's forgotten a crucial detail in his pamphlet.

[... She shakes her head.]

Fine. You can do that. I'm going to find someone in charge.

[takes a step forward] And I'm going with you. Mr Naismith and the person in charge could be connected in some way.

[Jade approaches with intrigue and barely catches the last part of the man's grumbling.]

They didn't even leave an away message?

Away message? [the term is archaic to him, but he still gets it] They shouldn't be away at all. What if someone was really in trouble?

[Thoughtful.] Oh, hmmm... I can see how that would be a problem. Since you were calling them just now, does that mean you're in trouble?

[shakes his head] No, not exactly. Unsure about how to get back, yes, but that's not really trouble. Just more...annoying.

I'm Agent Washington. What's your name?
