Jimmy McCarron cracked his knuckles. What he was about to say was something that had only been between himself, Brittany and Michael. Obvious, according to T.J., but this was yet another moment where he had to bite the bullet.

"You're going to have to keep an eye on her," he said. "She will do whatever it takes to do what she has to do ... and that might mean going too far, even for us." He paused. "Somebody has to look out for her on this, no matter what she says. I love her. I can't lose her."

Scully tensed, as she listened to him, images flickering across the scene before her.'Sight'. Brittany hurt, or fighting, or--

"Understood." She met his eyes calmly. "I'll be there, Jim." Daring to use his first name. " And if I have to, I willdrag her out of there and run. Take our chances without MI5 backing." She thought, then, in a lower
voice, "When I asked Brittany about leverage--I'd thought we might have to play dirty. Look for something less...overt that would be worth something to MI5's higher-ups. Are any of this crew hackers? Or ex?"

"Lex is, was. He has a criminal record, believe it or not. He was quite the player. I'm sure he can find something." Pause. "She plays hard and fast with her life, like it doesn't matter, but it does matter, and she needs to see that." McCarron shook his head. "It would be undeniably stupid to let the only person I care about get killed right after I finally told her I love her."

Wryly, "Or before. Let's hope someone can convince her without it being the hard way. Meanwhile, I'll get her back--whether she thinks it's necessary or not. And yes, one of us should have a word with
Lex, then."
