Central District [SPLODY PLOT]

Oct 14, 2006 22:20

Unseen- because the unexpected and unobtrusive goes unnoticed so very often, bat-bots from the ruins fluttered out of open windows, traveling here and there, following people into buildings, seeking perches. They took them, then waited.

The front door to the C-Tank jingled softly as it opened.

Wolf-bots lay in wait, still as statues, their red eyes dim and lightless.

A young mechanical with violet hair and lavender eyes walked in.

Naga-bots slithered through the sewers, making no noise- crawling over top one another to lift their heads in the direction of manhole and drainage covers, and the sounds of the city just above.

He stepped into line and waited his turn.

Dozens of completely ordinary seeming mechanicals walked the streets, and if their gait was somewhat slower than most, or they held their arms a bit stiffly... or someone walked past them and the image did not quite match what their arm came in contact with- well... such things were explained away by distracted and logical minds.

He got up to the counter and smiled at the young woman who asked him what he would like to order, shook his head at her kindly and turned his eyes to the brown-haired mechanical currently not looking in their direction.

He leaned slightly against the countertop.

"Little boy blue, come blow your horn.
The mavericks are in the meadow,
the viruses are in the corn."
His voice took on an amused note, "And where is the boy who looks after the sheep," he turned a predator's gaze on the girl before slanting his eyes back to the blue-garbed mecha.

He tapped a finger on his lips, smirked.

"Why, he's retired, serving coffee."

At a silent command, each of the bots rose, surging by the hundreds out of sewers and buildings, into the streets- into City Hall and the ICPU Headquarters.

Outside, unknown to those in the C-Tank, the screaming began.
