bladder stone/inappropriate peeing

About a week and a half ago, my cat started peeing on the carpet.  She's 3 1/2 years old and spayed.  We adopted her at seven weeks old and have never had this problem before.  We discovered that she had a problem because she started peeing on the carpet.  We took her to the vet and X-Rays revealed a bladder stone.  We gave her liquid antibiotics ( Read more... )

From what you're saying it does sound like a spite-pee. I hope she's not still in pain despite the lack of blood. Count your blessings that she's not using your bed. (I had a cat do that once)

It might sound trivial, but change the brand of litter. Get her a new box. Also consider having two boxes (if you only have one) The puppy training pads supposedly have a scent to them that tells puppies "pee here". Maybe that stinks to her, or smells too much like dog.

Finally, find some way to clean the place(s) on the carpet and or take it up. Once the smell is there it's hard to get rid of it.

Sounds like it's psychologically based behavior, not physical. Are there certain times of day she does this? Or while you're doing specific activities? I hear that cats really, REALLY don't like change, so I'm wondering if she's protesting some new habit on your part.

No, nothing new except for medicating her. But the medicine's ground up in wet food, so she thinks it's a treat because we normally only feed her dry. Surely she isn't protesting a treat. As for when, whenever I'm sitting on the couch. Anytime of day. She didn't do it at all today, so maybe her recent vet visit is further away in her memory.
