history.
When Ansel Bredoteau met Luciana De Blasio, he thought it was love at first sight. She, however, did not. But when faced with the persistent adoration of an ardent Frenchman, she eventually changed her mind. After all, nothing can capture the heart of a woman quite like complete and utter surrender, at least if you're a De Blasio woman. With the blonde hair and green eyes common of her family (and many others, truth be told) in northern Italy, Luciana was a show stopper. Ansel was a bit plain, truth be told. His features were just a little too sharp, his height just a touch lacking, but what he lacked in looks, he made up for in heart. As for Luciana, while outwardly conceited, she was a decent enough person. While not one looking to change the world, she was utterly devoted to those who'd earned her devotion.
After their marriage, they did what any French businessman and Italian actress would do in California - they bought a vineyard. While Ansel continued to work and ran over the day to day operations of the vineyard to a staff, Luciana abandoned her acting career, which wasn't difficult as it had never been particularly successful. Instead, she chose the role of stay-at-home mum, making it look as glamorous as she could manage. The first few years in Napa were fantastic, but Luciana soon became bored by that lifestyle and it was off again, the now family of four relocating to Orange County. They bought a house in Newport Beach on Balboa Island, close enough to Los Angeles to be convenient, but far enough away to be exclusive, and Luciana set about making herself a fixture in the community. Ansel quickly settled into this lifestyle and the vineyard became a retreat rather than the family home.
The Bredoteau family had thought their life complete, having two boys of seven and nine, and Luciana had resigned herself to the fact that she'd never have a daughter when, surprise, she found herself pregnant. It wasn't expected, but it was definitely a happy event and when Bianca was born, the happiness was compounded by the fact that, at last, there was a daughter in the family.
Growing up, Bianca never wanted for anything. She was the apple of her father's eye and adored by her mother and brothers. Being the youngest certainly had its advantages and she learned to play them well. Bianca could easily present the image of being such a good girl that she deserved to be spoiled. In actuality, all the special treatment had made her juts a bit of a brat. From pre-kindergarten through high school, she attended The Lycee International of Los Angeles, following in the footsteps of both her brothers. However, unlike her brothers, this wasn't her first choice. At least, it wasn't once she grew older. Bianca wanted to attend Silverleaf Academy, in part because of their fashion design program, and this denial was one she's yet to forget.
Upon graduation, Bianca attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, majoring in Footwear Design, indulging her passion for shoes. As a minor, she took Merchandising Marketing, thinking it would boost her resume and look good one day when she was famous. However, her career as a designer of footwear has yet to really go anywhere and it's the merchandising on which she's fallen back. After a lacklustre performance at school, she graduated with a portfolio that definitely couldn't be called stellar. Or even good. Bianca, of course, blamed this on her ill preparations for the courses. If her parents had just sent her to Silverleaf, she'd have been brilliant.
As much as Bianca hates it, she's a nobody in the world of fashion design, instead finding herself as a rising star in the world of marketing. Bianca has a good eye and a natural talent for business, though she's loathe to admit it. And, while she'd rather be on the design end, she's found a way to still have a bit of power in the industry. After all, if anyone wants to be carried at Barney's, they have to get buy her. Of course, it still leaves her living in New York, a thing that Bianca finds utterly distasteful. After a life spent in California, New York is still a bit of a culture shock to her. The cold, the snow, the lack of constant sun - these are all things Bianca has yet to find the charm in. In fact, she'd move back to California immediately if that wasn't admitting defeat. So, instead, she stays in New York, advancing up the business side of the fashion industry while her true dreams lay in waste. Her one consolation is knowing that, no matter what the trend, she's on the cutting edge. In fact, if one were to ask, she's the one making trends, not following them. Not always true, but true enough to Bianca.
When it came to finding out she was a tale, it wasn't much of a shock to Bianca. At least the part where she was a princess. To Bianca, it was justification. She'd always known she was a princess and this just proved it. Still, even after nearly a decade, she hasn't fully wrapped her mind around just what that means. In fact, she doesn't particularly think about it. To her, it has no immediate impact on her life except for a few quirks here and there. To her, getting wrapped up in your tale is something that she finds ridiculous in others. Still, she'll be the first to claim "but I'm a PRINCESS" when confronted with another tale who won't quite do what she wants. As she sees it, she's royalty, and that counts.
about the girl.
Personality: Bianca is an extremely outgoing girl, to say the least. She has the sort of outward confidence that most girls dream about. To those who notice the positive, she's adventurous and energetic. She's a leader - the sort of girl who's always wearing the latest fashion trends, in the know about the best new bar or that new band that will be the next big thing. She has the sort of bubbly enthusiasm that's contagious.
If someone looked a little closer, however, they'd see that that adventurous streak has left a bit of a foolhardy daredevil. Bianca always manages to find trouble and expects someone else to save her from it. She's impulsive and impatient, wanting exactly what she wants right away and not thinking about the repercussions. Selfish and often quick-tempered, she has to work hard to control her natural instincts. Having been given what she's wanted most of her life hasn't helped either. In fact, it's just helped to ingrain in her a deep sense of entitlement.
Still, Bianca has a surprisingly quick wit. While she may have failed at her chosen career, she isn't stupid. She's just a bit too confident when it comes to herself. Having never had to work particularly hard for anything, the notion of working hard to learn a skill at which she had no natural aptitude never occurred to her. When her father told her she could be whatever she wanted to be, Bianca took him just a bit too literally.
Though she has her share of negative traits, Bianca isn't all bad. She's just not overwhelmingly good either. Most of her friends are the superficial sort, the kind she shops with or gets drinks. But she's never been one to form close emotional bonds and the thought of doing so scares her. So, to Bianca, it's easier to stay superficial. She's a fun person to be around, but not the sort you ever really get to know. Truth be told, Bianca has never looked too closely at herself doesn't yet have the self-awareness to understand her inner workings. To her, it's all still about the aesthetic pleasures, and she's aesthetically pleasing.
Likes: being blond, being rich, being adored, people with good brows, shoes, clothes, designer labels, the ocean, warm weather, the west coast, anything beautiful
Dislikes: unibrows, cheap footwear, people who don't believe in her, not being the center of attention, people with really obnoxious laughs, tales who try to define themselves by their tale
Physical Description: Standing about 5'3, what Bianca lacks in physical size, she makes up for in volume. The first thing many notice about her is her stunning golden hair (which is natural, though some highlight so aid a bit), followed by her blue green eyes. However, if one looks for just a bit longer, the fact that there's something about her that's just a bit off. Her eyes are a little wide-set, her mouth a tad too small, and her nose a bit on the snubby side. And then there's the unfortunate bit of a cleft in her chin. All in all, she looks a bit like one of those small breeds of dog that no one can quite remember the name of - they just remember the smushed up features. Still, her personality gives her a sort of vibrancy that shines through and a wide range of facial expressions can keep people laughing, even when that wasn't the intended purpose.
Quirks: Bianca loves, loves, loves Elton John. Her personal theme song is 'Tiny Dancer' and any time she goes to karaoke, she insists on singing this first. She has a penchant for redesigning her home every so often, which includes getting rid of almost everything she has and getting completely new décor. She's obviously not the sentimental sort. Obsessive to a fault, Biana often finds something to stick with before some inexplicable trigger goes off and she moves to the next thing. It's been everything from a color to a restaurant to an entire culture.
fairy fairly.
Fairytale: Princess Badroulbadour, One Thousand and One Nights
Ability, if any: None, since sheer obnoxiousness doesn't count
Bianca VS Princess Balroulbadour: Princess Badroulbadour, honestly, isn't very heavily developed in her tale. She plays rather stereotypical role of someone who's adored simply because she's beautiful. Aladdin falls in love with her first with only a glimpse, contrasting her to the plainness of his mother. And I think that Bianca really values her physical beauty. It's something she cultivates, with the understanding that first impressions are everything. Her tale really proves that in her eyes. Also, when the Princess traded the "old" lamp for one new and beautiful, I think it showed a bit of a materialistic side that Bianca definitely has. She doesn't desire anything as a way to hurt anyone else, it's just a love of being surrounded by beauty. Overall, neither are bad people - just a bit shallow.
