First, the four marriage ideas are not just something I made up. These are concrete situations that have occurred in the history of mankind's development. I know this because I have read, had course work and received college credit in the areas of sociology, anthropology, economics and history (both US and world). These ideas come up in study just about every time that marriage is discussed as a social, cultural, economic and historical institution ( ... )

wow u went 2 college? sorri but my mom told me the truth about college...it is only for homosexuals. so if ur not a homosexual (which i think it the case since ur a hearty Christian) then i really hope u went to a college like Liberty University, or another equally good college, founded on mythological principles.

god bless u shellcase and i really hope u r not a homosexual.

College: I have an Associates in Arts & Sciences Degree in Arts & Sciences from John Tyler Community College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree in Social Studies Education. College is for anyone who wants to improve their knowledge base and get a good job. While there were homosexuals at my colleges, they only make up about 10% of the overall campus population. Both colleges were multi-faith schools that had student groups and classes about most religions.

Liberty University: I actually considered going there but its education department didn't offer what I was looking for in my career plans.

Being Homosexual: No, I am not. I have dated only women, and am now married to one. My attraction to women has never been affected by the gays/lesbians that I have known or worked with.

k let me grab my "How to Handle a Moral Crises for Young Christians"

wow well first of all velvat what is ur sex organs? is it peepee or vagina? this is so important for Christians 2 know when assesing situatons like this cuz it tells us if ur having sinful homosexual triggers. we need 2 know this since homosexuality is the worst sin in the Bible and requires us 2 make laws against it. we might need 2 put u in jail i think.

second of all do u intend 2 marri me? this does not clear u entirely of the sin but it atleast allows us lower it some. if u intend 2 marri me then maybe we can do that to undo the sin of lust.

velvat just know that lust is a completly normal feeling. this serves a very powerful reminder that satan is always nearby trying 2 trick us into sin. but u have 2 fite this velvat cuz sorri but the devil can never win. God only gives him the power to trick us so that we can fite the devils tricks. its like an arbitrary test or sumthing and it makes alot of sense.

god bless u velvat.

a doctor won't cure homosexual feelings... it's scientifically proven that you are either born heterosexual or homosexual... homosexual's don't choose to be homosexual... if they got to choose why would they in a society of ignorant people who bash them for being something "abnormal"... they are born that way... homesexual's have nothing wrong with themselves they love people the same way you can love a guy they just have sex differently... you bash everyone on their ways of thinking but you get insulted if someone bashes you... maybe you need to open

Marriage is God's idea. God created marriage and only He can define it. Marriage for love is a new concept. Homosexual marriage is a dicy issue because God hats the sin of homosexuality. God defines marriage. He set it up to be between a man and a woman. It cannot be any other way. That isn't to say that married people didn't love one another in days past, but we can't deny that in days past marriages were arranged at one time.

...Except marriage existed before Christianity came about, even in pagan societies where they hadn't heard of the religion yet. Also, biblical marriage also includes polygamy (Solomon), raping a woman and then paying for her, complete submission of the woman, no divorce except by the husband, and as for procreation, it even condones incest (Lot).

So, to keep marriage 'biblical,' should we put an end to women's rights, allow for polygamy, and take rape off the lawbooks? Furthermore, should non-Christian marriage be illegal?

Your argument that marriage was a Christian invention is nonsense, Starchaser. If that's how you want it to be recognized, then let's take the federal benefits away for married couples - establishment clause, you know.

(I find it interesting that Christianity and Islam are the only religions that condemn homosexuality; the rest of the world's religions are ambivalent on the issue.)

Nonsense. God instituted marriage at CREATION. It is his idea. He sets the rules. Those who ignore the rules that GOD has placed upon marriage do so to their own great harm and the harm of their families and the society that allowsit. There is no way around that.

I notice you make no effort to explain pagans having the concept long before anyone started spreading ideas of a monotheistic god?
Was God influencing people that had no knowledge of his existence or did they just happen to conjure up the same idea?

Nor do you respond to the subjects of polygamy and rape, incest, submission of women, and no divorce unless instigated my the husband (though, by you logic, divorce isn't needed if the married are done so under God, so that point may be moot).

God VERY clearly set the rules there.
Should we follow those too or ignore them?

And, indeed, if we should ignore the condoning of incest and rape, then why take notice of a minor frowning upon of sodomy?
After all, the eating of shellfish is supposed to be an abomination as well. Why don't Christians forsake lobster as well?
