Old Silent Hill - Outside Alchemilla Hospital governmentninja July 15 2006, 04:49:34 UTC
When they hit the streets, it's night time, and Silent Hill is living up to its name. No sound can be heard from the town, at all, except for their own footsteps on grimy pavement.

On the sidewalk is a chalk drawing of an angry-looking sun chewing on a crying stick figure of a child. Atop the drawing is a cassette player.

"Hn..." Leon fished the cassette tape they found out of his pocket, and put it in the player.

"Let's see what this is all about..." Inserting the tape into the player, they hear what sounds like a recording of a radio talk show:"Well folks, yesterday, summer solstice, longest hottest and sunniest day of the year saw a lot of activity locally, didn't we Tony ( ... )

Warren shifts nervously, looking up and down the streets as if waiting for them to be attacked at any moment. Oh wait, that isn't such an insane fear. At first he's only half listening to the tape, mostly as he's fearing it's going to be Liz on it and, if that was the case, he was likely going to flip out.

But then he slowly tuned in, making a face. "Yeah, something made everyone go psycho,' he muttered. "Two guesses who. Oh, and those broadcasters need to be smacked around a bit."

"I got nothin, except agreeing with Warren that someone needs to slap the happy off those guys."

Hellboy tries to make a good mental note of the direct facts of the reports like names, ages and injuries. This is just the sort of crap this place will quiz you on later. Too bad he's not so hot with names.

Leon couldn't think of anything either, but he had a hard time believing that this was just random. They may need the info on that tape later, so he takes it with them as he walks off.

Looking around as he walked, the shops and houses were all abandoned for quite a while, from the looks of it. Paint is cracked and peeling from the walls, and a layer of dust is settled over the doorknobs. Most of the buildings they couldn't enter; the windows were boarded up, and doors they tried were jammed. In some cases, it looked like the doors seemed to have melded oddly with their frames.

Further along, some of the streets are impassable at some points, blocked off by impossibly tall chain link fence and razor wire. That alone set off far too many alarms in Leon's head.

"We're being herded..." But it's not like they had much of a choice, so he continued down whatever path was open to them. Hopefully it would lead them to the others.

Old Silent Hill - The Pet Shop governmentninja July 16 2006, 05:37:49 UTC
Leon is right behind Warren as they enter the Pet shop. With most of the cages empty, Leon kept his gun out. If Silent Hill were anything like Raccoon City or Spain, the stray animals would be a pain in the ass.

The cages that were used, though, had... what looked like... dogs, maybe? It was hard to tell, it looked like patches of their skin had been sheared off. Not to mention they were riddled with bullets and the floor was covered in their blood.

He couldn't blame Warren for vomiting, but with Walter still around, now was not the time to stop for any reason.

"C'mon, kid!" He grabbed Warren by the back of his shirt, and as soon as there was the first break in the vomiting, he started pushing him towards a different section of the store.

Walter smashed, rather than walked, through the entrance to the store. He immediately sprayed the room with gunfire with one hand and formed a hatchet in the other.

"This stupid place...stupid dogs..."

He sends a few rounds into the nearby animal corpses.

HB drops down as Walter enters the shop raining down gunfire. He gets his last shot off, aiming for the man's firing arm. He then prays he has enough time to get another 6 bullets in from a speed loader before either Walter's gun or hatchet are turned on him.

Choking, giving a sharp yelp as that pull on his shirt jerks his arm. Fucking hell, it was starting to hurt. Why the fuck did the movies say it went numb, because hello, it wasn't. Whimpering a little, hating himself for that as he wiped his mouth on the back of his hand.

He nodded though, stumbling as he moved in the direction Leon shoved him, even as he tried to get some sort of concentration to fight back.

Leon went down a hallway which looked quite plain, if dark and unkempt like everywhere else in this town. There were two doors along each side, and large double-doors at the far end. On the four smaller doors are written, "Sisters," "Brothers," "Fathers," and "Daughters." On the double-doors are written "Mothers" and "Suns ( ... )

Splitting up. Yeah, that always went so well, right? All he could think about was horror movies and bad dramas, where they split up and then got picked off one by one. It was at that moment that Warren made a promise to himself. IfWhen he got out of there, he was never watching another goddamn horror movie again. Fuck that noise ( ... )

Leon had managed to get to his knees and recovered some of the energy he lost. He really couldn't remember being this off his game.

And Warren had to witness part of it.

Not that Leon was a prideful guy, but having someone see him when he's not at his best kind of stung. Maybe more than it should.

"Yeah, I'm fine kid... ran into a little unexpected trouble." He should've noticed that ghost the moment it appeared. He smashed his fist into the wall out of pure frustration, something he wouldn't normally do. But then again, he's been doing things he wouldn't normally do since the moment he arrived in Silent Hill. He stared at his arm, and his expression grew a lot darker as he stared at it, like something was very wrong with it, though he only had a bruise. "God damn this shit... not now... "

He doesn't move close, doesn't offer him a hand. He might be, basically, a kid, but he's a guy too. He knows better. Like that whole looking away thing he's doing, giving Leon a moment to pull himself together.

Starting at the punch, turning to arch a brow. "Uhmmm... yeah...' He doesn't ask if he's okay, turning at Hellboy's voice.

"After you?"

((continued from here))

Warren's immediate reaction struck Leon as strange. Couldn't Warren see what was wrong? The light wasn't great in there, but he had to be able to see what was happening, to see those damn parasites, las plagas, streaking through his veins, practically bulging against his skin, and...

...wait.

Las plagas doesn't actually do that. The parasites just wedge themselves in someone's midsection, and latch on to their spine. The only time he had ever seen them do that, he was dreaming. Which means now, he was probably just hallucinating. Just Silent Hill fucking with the way he viewed the world, and himself. Which explained the lack of other obvious symptoms, like coughing up blood. Not to mention, no one noticed it but him, even if it did briefly happen once or twice in plain view of the others. It was another completely obvious thing that he had missed. He rally needed to get his head together ( ... )

Kate has found her way into the room marked "Brothers". It seems to be a study of some sort - which would normally be right up Kate's alley, but all of the books have been destroyed, pages torn out and missing. Nearby, there's a desk - or something that probably used to be a desk, but has been just as decimated as the books.

She spends a few minutes going through the gutted books, looking for any information at all, until she hears her name and sticks her head out the door again to see what's going on.

He just stares at Leon a long time, a frown curving his lips. "Uhmm, you're..." He shakes his head and shrugs.

"Come on, Kate.' Waiting for her before slinking into the main room, all humour gone once more as his hand continues to rub at his jeans, the skin becoming red and raw.

Picking the book up feels like pulling an object from tar, and when it is freed, the room seems to shift and swirl around them. There is no sound, no light, but somehow everything seems loud and disorienting. Eventually the chaos builds to a frenzy and the walls ceiling and floor themselves begin to change. Long, wooden arms, patterned with wiry sinew and pulsing veins reach out to swipe and strike at you and your team members. These arms can be cut away, but more will always be produced. This "monster" will be more difficult to battle than any of the others encountered thus far.

Every so often, a bubbling sound preceeds a shrieking face appearing on a wall, floor, or ceiling amidst the arms. This is only visible for a short time, and then it sinks back into the surface it came from.

Warren would have to be the one to move the book.

Leon pulled back near the others as the walls started to change, but now they all didn't have much room to maneuver. "Stay close!"

One of the arms reached out and grabbed him, but his knife was able to slash into it, then kicked a chunk off. That didn't do much good as another arm quickly replaced that one. And when that arm would get cut up, two more would pop up in it's place.

"God damn this shit... it never ends!"

He had noticed the shrieking face, but it would appear and disappear at random. No real pattern to it that he could figure out yet. But... "...why does this seem so familiar?" He didn't have much time to think on it, he was busy ducking another swipe at himself.

"Oh crap..."
It's all Hellboy has time to get out as the room changes and the arms begin to swipe at them. Holstering his gun, the demon begins smashing at the hands and arms with his stone fist. Pieces snap, crumble, and break away, but it does no good. They seem to come back unaffected.

"What the heck do ya gotta do to this place?!"
He swings to pummel another hand, but is swatted across the small room to smash through pews and crash into a wall.
"Ok...that is no way to behave in a church."

Hellboy picks himself up and charges at one of the hands, crushing it with a few blows. Another springs quickly in its place.
"Oh come on!!"

And Warren is thoroughly and completely screwed. He has a bullet hole in one shoulder, melted metal in his hand, the damn book tucked under his arm and a scalpel. What? Central casting forgot his high heels and faulty flashlight?

But he tried, slashing at anything not... friendly, that comes at him as best he can. Flames lick at his one arm, the fire seeming to bring him calm where nothing else did. It barely does anything, more seeming to infuriate than stop. And the noise just seems to burrow into his head, eating at his ear drums until it seems it's all he can hear. The shrieking and the yells of his teammates.
