Survived Ike

it wasn't too bad, but he left a BIIIIG mess to clean up. something about our cul-de-sac seems to block the worst of it. we lost one little tree, tons of branches and leaves littering place. i'll be busy cleaning that up the next few days.

storm itself was intense, but i never saw the huge terrible winds others reported. the edge of the eye passed over us about 6am, wind just stopped. rain never let up though, which was weird. i passed the hours listening to the drunk neighbor boys running amok outside, woohoo-ing, and my little mp3 player with FM radio - all the stations were doing live tv feeds, so i could track the storm.

lost power a few hours before it hit, came back on late last night, while we were sleeping. weather hasn't been terribly hot either, that's a plus. got hit with a surprise thunderstorm last night too, as if we didn't have enough rain. whatever *rolls eyes*

as expected, we had our typical 'we have no power let's party' after-hurricane block party last night. was fun. i grilled asparagus, tofu, bread, and veggie burgers while watching a friend of my neighbor trying to set up a booty call with my cell phone. i could send and receive texts, but it's still not receiving phone calls, just goes straight to voice mail. i can call out sometimes, can access voice mail sometimes. but at least it works.

all in all, not so bad. coulda been worse, was worse for so many others around us.

no power, block party, hurricane, ike
