I have a great desire to go hiking

Anybody want to come? I might run off the week after next, but late July and on the mosquitoes are not too bad.

I think I have a full second set of gear, possibly even a third.

What sort of gear does one need to go hiking?

I'm hoping to go 3-4 days or more backcountry, so a pack, sleeping stuff, cooking stuff, caching food away from bears stuff, and maybe emergency stuff too.
