As I so recently posted above, I've been back in Budo Taijutsu classes, which are completely awesome. Well, good news is out in the world for me today:-)
I pulled my sensei aside today to ask her if when I did my testing for my 9th kyu (lowest rank of green belt) that she do one part of it herself (normally another student would act as opponent) because I have recently discovered a *really* deep aversion to having a man grab my wrists. I'm the only female student about right now, so it would have to be her; she had no problem at all with that.
But...then she asked if I really wanted to go through an actual testing. She'd be happy to do it; we could pick a day and the class could go through the requirements. There was, however, no doubt whatsoever in her mind that I could easily do everything on the list and if I wanted to, we could just skip the formalities.
I thought for a second and then said that I had had the formalities once before and that there was no point in forcing a bunch of black belts to go through the first level material yet again after suffering through me learning it already.
She smiled and said to just wear my green belt tomorrow to class. And then added that she thought that I would have the formalities soon enough because she was pretty sure that I was going to rise up through the ranks quickly.
**squeals in a decidedly non-ninja-like fashion**
And to top it all off, it was "Clear Out the Lost and Found" day, so I an now the proud possessor of a pair of secondhand outdoor Tabi boots, of which I was in desperate need.
Anybody know where I can find toe-socks?
