As a mom of four who had four natural childbirths: that a BIG FAT PILE OF BULLCRAP. }:^[ Med-free childbirth is excruciatingly painful and exhausting, and the LAST thing a new mom needs is to be exhausted! You need all the fucking rest and strength you can get, esp. with multiple children. Wow. What a total fucking douchetard. They used to perform surgery with saws while holding the patient down as anesthetic, but no one thinks that is good for the character now that we have modern surgery.

If I had had the choice of a spinal or natural childbirth I would have taken the spinal in a heartbeat, but that wasn't ever an option for me. It was different 20+ years ago. I think making labor as pain-free as possible is a huge step forward in compassionate medical care.

Just to be thorough, I will comment again even though I already said a tidbit on your FB.

I can't get past the headline, but FUCK THAT. I waited until 5 cm, got my epidural, and was a saner person for it. I don't believe in suffering if I don't have to. GIVE ME THE DRUGS, DAMNIT. I have to deal with enough pain in life - If there is something that will relieve it, sign me up.

If a woman wants to go drugless, yo, totally her choice and I completely respect her for it. Her labor, her decision. I, however, did not care for the feeling of my cervix being torn apart, so I happily allowed them to stick a foot-long needle in my spine. Naturally, after it kicked in, I was all, "Oh, this is great. I could do this every year..." Yes, I was that fucking delirious from the pain I had just experienced. I know better now. ;P

if this guy had anything of value to inform his opinion, like not wanting to expose the baby to drugs, you know, okay. that would be one thing. but his attitude is all about punishing the woman. eve's curse and all. wtf. he states NO medical reasons at all, just that it will help the poor dumb animal learn how to be a better mother. how the hell is THAT supposed to work?

evolution fucked up, this is what it comes down to, from what i understand. either walk upright or have big-headed babies, but no, humans wanna do both. and it doesn't work very well. THAT is why it's so god awful. not because god hates the evil whores, but because yeah, biology ain't perfect.
