"Soyons realistes, exigeons l'impossible !"

("let's be realistic, and demand the impossible..", as tagged on the walls of Paris during the spring of '68)

Hi *wave*

I hope you guys do end up making it out to the show at the shoreline. Maybe this time I'll be less post-relationship angsty.

Hey :)

Believe me, you didn't come across angsty at all ! And I swear I'll never forget that evening including the cool mexican bar - I regret having been that tired and having to call it quits that early though :/

Yeah "Only" can be nice admittedly, especially the guitar part that sounds a bit like "The man who sold the world" :)

And about "Physical" I think Trent can't pull it off credibly. I'm a really old school Adam Ant fan, so I should really dig that song, but I think it's one of the lesser good songs of Adam Ant so I never understood why Trent chose it as a cover in the first place.
I think a) the lyrics are partially retarded ("I wanna wine and dine you..I wanna twist and twist and shout"...I mean wtf ??), b) one has to be really sleazy to give the song the right vibe and somehow clean, sober, Peta supporting, Kathrina relief fund Trent isn't really sleazy anymore and c) the words "you're too physical, physical for me" from all biceps and pectoral and deltoid packed Trent is a bit surreal, I think...

That said he could replace Hurt with Physical and I'd be happier ;)
...glad you agree about the Fragile tracks...I've been starting to think that it was only me and Vanessa, who have that preference..

i'm definatley gonna have to disagree on starfuckers being in high rotation. i would have to put that in 'near to never' if i made a list. haha i agree with hurt though. i believe toledo was a wonderful show and part of that was due to the lack of hurt. haha

is it still up in the air about whether you guys are coming over here in june??

Oh, I really like the spite and disgust in that song (Starfuckers Inc.) - I'm always delighted when they play it and the slow guitar part is beautiful, but so is the solo at the end of Hurt I guess.

My issue is anyhow more about the "rotation" in it self than about what's rotated how often...

And yeah, I agree about Toledo - it's quite shocking isn't it ?

About coming over - we won't know til the last week or so I guess. We're keeping the option open, but to be honest things don't work exactly in our favour at the moment..so I really don't know. Parts of me want to come, others want to stay home and not here Hurt again..

What really sets me off about the whole Toledo-with-no-Hurt thing, is that it seems there's a credo in the NIN-camp (don't know whether it's the Big Man himself or the production or the label or what) that NO show must go without Hurt/Closer/Terrible Lie/HLAH/MOTP/Gave Up/etc. - not counting the current singles, that is.

And then - lo! and behold, Grand Rapids, and it finally becomes possible to drop one of these Holy Songs, at least for one day. And if it's fine to deprive the thousands of people who were in Toledo and had waited a lifetime to hear Hurt, why wouldn't it be proper to get these songs into rotation to save some of their freshness and spontaneity ? I mean, seriously..
