That is really beautiful. I love the little details, like Elizabeth’s purse and the painted designs on the “cloth” of the clothing.

I can see the two women, one young to be pregnant, the other old to be, drawing strength from each other.

I think it reads as if Mary stayed until John was born - perhaps being with her kinswoman through labour and delivery gave her courage when she found herself facing the same when far from her own bed...
