I'll be out in the evening at a talk on Soviet mapping of the West during the Cold War.

Good luck with the marmalade. I had a fairly big cooking day yesterday, so I'm just sticking to usual three meals today.
Hope the talk is a good one.

My daughter and I used to play a game as we drove anywhere, especially off-island, of spotting places we wouldn't buy houses... on-island we knew we were right about the small, rather up-market, estate called 'The Mill Race' - it flooded withing 3 years of the first house being built and all the residents were shocked! But we also remember 'Flood Lane' (honestly!), 'Riverbank Road', 'Marshy Lane', and a few others between Heysham and York, too.

I fear for the future with the new government's plan for more house building under looser control. If the developers appeal against the council planners we could well see houses being built there. The only hope is the fact that they flood every year so the building sites themselves could be under water while they're still in progress.

Building on flood plains should be illegal, the only ones who benefit are the developers.
