I'm honored to get a mention! But don't be self-conscious! I'm contradictory! boggit February 10 2007, 06:05:49 UTC
Please don't feel that you shouldn't post--LJ is supposedly safe, and although it can be a minefield, I think we should treat it that way. Here you can be less edited, less concerned with appearances and perfectionism and outcome. My writing has suffered endlessly from being in graduate school--concurrently with me becoming a much better and more self-aware writer. I have nightmares about reaching the perfect equilibrium where I can't write anything because I know all my own weaknesses so well I'm anticipating failure more than embracing the possibility of success.

I feel like I'm starting over, building new windows. And I'm the one who closed the doors! Can I steal a page out of your book and say you've just expressed how I feel more eloquently than I could? I can't find the way out, but I've deliberately closed the previous paths ( ... )

Brian,
The first time I saw the race monologues was before I really knew you, but my journal entry from that day talks about how inspiring and engaging I found "this guy Brian's monologue" to be. I'm hoping to make it up to campus for some of the Gender Sympo, and I'll definitely try to see the race monologues again. Good luck with the writing...my suggestion would be to try to write write write with no thought as to the audience, and then later try to edit those raw words into something you can say on campus.
Hope things are going well with you otherwise.
Marianna
