I had thought human customs to be strange, and their lore stranger still, but these recent events have proven nothing less than baffling.  It was not the way of the Ancients to fully understand our God, we would be given prophetic dreams to gaze into the future.  The gods of this realm, however...  They continue to defy logic.

This herd is already too scant. It has a ways to grow before it can be thinned. Perhaps, a decade more and it will be able to sustain the bloodlust of one vampire.

The animals, however, seem ever in abundance. Still, were it not for your sensibilities, I would imagine one or two of their kind wouldn't hurt every now and then.

The ancients had no desire to lead the humans as cattle, Kain. We sought to lead them to peace and prosperity, but the idea they were nothing more than sustenance to us was brought about when the rebellion of the human guardians occurred so many centuries ago.
