While Wesker’s childhood is entirely unknown past the fact that he was born in the year 1960, he was obviously a brilliant young man, having joined the international pharmaceutical enterprise Umbrella Corporation by 1977-age seventeen. Under the watchful eye of James Marcus of the Management Training Facility, he forged a sort of camaraderie with another young recruit, William Birkin. The two showed such promise that they, handpicked by Marcus himself, were transferred to the Arklay Research Laboratory just over a year later to continue research on a biological property that would eventually become known as the T-virus. Their research, spanning a grand total of thirteen years, would produce three ‘tiers’ of virus-carriers, culminating in 1988 with the first ‘Tyrant’-class bioweapon. After completion of the first Tyrant, Birkin and Wesker were ordered by Ozwell Spencer-functioning head of Umbrella-himself to dispose of Marcus and claim his research as their own. Ever eager to excel, the two agreed, and the research claimed from Marcus soon led to the discovery of a new prospective virus-G.

By 1991, having steadily lost faith and trust in Spencer’s methods, Wesker transferred to Umbrella's Intelligence Bureau. For the next five years, he infiltrated the police department of Raccoon City, quickly rising through the ranks and eventually fostering the Special Tactics and Rescue Squad-S.T.A.R.S for short-in 1996. The unit was split into Alpha and Bravo teams, with Wesker himself heading the Alpha team. Two years later, in the early autumn months of 1998, violent murders were reported across the region. The general public attributed the murders to a cannibalistic cult, while the truth behind the horrendous events found itself resting on Umbrella’s shoulders. Wesker, realizing this, dispatched the S.T.A.R.S Bravo team to the Arklay Mountain region where the obvious T-virus outbreak had buried its roots. A day later, contact was lost, and the Alpha team was sent out.

Albert Wesker, Barry Burton, Joseph Frost, Chris Redfield Jill Valentine, and Brad Vickers-the entirety of Alpha team arrived at the downed Bravo chopper in the early evening. The team, aside from the barely-recognizable corpse of Kevin Dooley and an unidentified severed hand, was nowhere to be found. Shortly thereafter, the team was confronted by a host of Cerberus-defined as a Doberman infected with the T-Virus and given the developmental code MA-39. In the struggle, Joseph Frost was eaten alive, and the Alpha pilot Brad Vickers fled in the team’s only hope for escape-the second S.T.A.R.S chopper. Resigned to an extended stay in the Arklay region, the remaining for members of Alpha team sought shelter in an apparently abandoned mansion, unwittingly playing directly into Wesker’s hand. Their ‘shelter’ was, in fact, the Arklay Research Laboratory, disguised as the Spencer family estate. Unknowing, save in Wesker’s case, of the impending danger, the team split up to search the mansion. One of their earliest discoveries was the body of Kenneth J. Sullivan-pointman of the Bravo team-being eaten by a T-carrier, commonly called a ‘zombie’.

The greater portion of the exploration was carried out by Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield while Wesker set up a safe-house and waited for the pieces of his plan to fall into place. In time, he meets Chris and Jill at the underground research facility, revealing his true intentions and unveiling the Tyrant T-002. Those ‘intentions’ were to gather battle data on the B.O.Ws(bio-organic weapons)within the estate against human combatants-S.T.A.R.S. He fully intended to auction this information, and his own bioengineering prowess, to one of Umbrella’s rival companies. Just as he reveals his plan and the beast of his creation, it claims his life and seeks the same of Chris and Jill. Unknown to the two of them, however, Wesker had injected himself with a mutated strain of the T-virus, possibly a form of TG, just moments before. As such, like a phoenix from the ashes, he rose to claim his prize-valuable data from the Umbrella Corporation. Finding himself denied access to the Umbrella mainframe, his next goal was to escape the research facility before the entire building self-destructed.

Upon reaching safety, having cast of his humanity in favor of power, Wesker vowed to seek revenge on the remaining S.T.A.R.S operatives who had destroyed the T-002 and escaped with their lives, effectively foiling his carefully calculated plan. Luckily, the incomplete data he accrued from the mansion incident was enough to earn him a high seat within The Agency, a rival pharmaceutical company, which he made quick use of to obtain a sample of the G-virus from his previous companion, William Birkin. The Umbrella Corporation, now under governmental scrutiny as a result of both the Mansion Incident and the subsequent outbreak within Raccoon City, aimed to have Birkin assassinated and his research claimed before the Agency could obtain it. Birkin had other plans, however, and he injected himself with his creation, claiming the lives of his assailants from Umbrella. Ada Wong, under Wesker’s command, was quickly dispatched to claim the G sample not from William himself, but from his daughter, Sherry, who carried a sample in a pendant around her neck. As Sherry was under the care of Claire Redfield, Chris’s younger sister, Ada instead sought and obtained a sample from William’s mutated body before nearly losing her life to the monstrosity. Wesker himself reclaimed both Ada and the G-sample from Raccoon City before its destruction at dawn.

Following the escape of Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, and William’s daughter Sherry, Wesker used Agency ties within the U.S. Government to take Sherry into custody, eventually imprisoning her on suspicion of being more than appearances suggested.

Soon after, Wesker was dispatched as commander of the Agency Special Forces team H.C.F., standing for Hive or Host Capture Force, to Rockfort Island’s Umbrella installment to claim a sample of the T-Veronica virus. Their assault on the facility loosed a host of B.O.Ws across the island, eventually affecting the Prison facility where Claire Redfield had been held captive for attempting to infiltrate an Umbrella installment in France. Chris, who had come to his sister’s aid, provided Wesker with a few moments of entertainment as the two fought within the Island facility. However, quickly learning that Alexia Ashford, chief researcher of the facility and holder of the sample he sought, was not on the Island, Wesker and his men started off for the subsidiary Antarctica Base. Said base met a similar fate as Rockfort when infected employees had arrived seeking refuge. Alexia had unfortunately awakened prematurely, proving to be stronger than Wesker could be bothered to take down on his own. Instead, he allowed Chris to fight the infected Alexia while he sought out the corpse of Steve Burnside, whom Alexia had infected with the T-Veronica virus before his death. The mission to obtain T-Veronica culminated in a second battle between old foes as Wesker and Chris squared off in an open area within the then self-destructing base. While Chris’s human resilience was admirable, Wesker was highly advanced in strength, agility, and intellect. Their match was interrupted by a pillar knocked free by the triggered self-destruct sequence, and Wesker assured Chris that luck would not save him again as he fled via Agency submarine.

Some years later in 2003, Wesker was reunited with another old friend-Sergei Vladimir of the Umbrella facility in south-eastern Russia. He stealthily infiltrated the facility, avoiding contact with both Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine who aimed to destroy the facility completely. He eventually encountered a mutated Sergei, having injected himself with an experimental virus, whom he made quick work of in close combat. Wesker then claimed all data from the Red Queen computer mainframe before initiating its final shut-down and the destruction of the base.

This information, along with all the data he’d accrued from years before, aided him in disbanding Umbrella. Survivors of Raccoon City had raised cases against the massive corporation, but saw little to no results due to lack of evidence. Wesker, posing as a personal friend of the Corporation’s CEO, presented his wealth of data in court. As a result, Umbrella saw it’s downfall, with high-ranking officials facing legal troubles of their own. Wesker himself opted to seek out Ozwell E. Spencer.

First and foremost, Wesker’s only loyalty is to himself. To this end, he has and will continue to manipulate others to reach his own goals. He is a shining example of the cardinal sins of pride and wrath, and his on-going grudge against Chris Redfield pay prime tribute to that fact. He is not an openly trusting man, often avoiding relinquishing information about himself entirely, if not forming elaborate lies to protect it.

That said, Albert Wesker is not necessarily evil. He is self-serving and utterly relentless, but he does not act unnecessarily. Every action he makes is carefully calculated, and he spares no effort to needless violence. While he may not value humanity as a whole, he comprehends the value of life itself. As such, his obsession with taking revenge on Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine would, in fact, lead him to protect the two of them from any life-threatening force but himself. Control is something Wesker values very highly, and the thought of any creature, man or beast, usurping him is one of a handful of things that can shatter his ice-cold exterior.

To those unfamiliar with him, should he feel a need to earn their trust, he is endlessly charismatic. Wesker is well-read, generally intelligent, and nothing short of a flatterer should the situation call for it. He is all too familiar with manipulation, persuasion, and blackmail, giving him an unusually deep understanding of humanity.

On the other hand, when challenged, he is arrogant and often acts recklessly. He abandons poise in favor of sarcasm and excessive cruelty.

As addressed in the personality section, Albert Wesker is a very charismatic man. He is no stranger to poise, and by no means impatient. He is efficient, calculating, manipulative, and generally capable. To quote a wikipedia article no longer available, “he is proficient in the fields of science, research, observation, biology, virology, bioengineering, evolution, combat, martial arts, marksmanship, weapons, tactics, police procedure, espionage, murder, subterfuge, blackmail, opportunity, planning, persuasion, arms dealing, double-cross and even extra-sensory perception, as well as superhuman strength, speed, agility, resistance, metabolism, and vitality, due to his viral genetic mutations.” I know rehashing source material is in poor taste, but a list that long is pointless to try and replicate. In short, Wesker is superhuman in both the literal and metaphorical sense.

In the physical sense, he has vastly superior strength and speed to even his own creations-the Tyrant series. He has exhibited super-speed to his capability of running on walls, and as shown in Code Veronica, he is capable of jumping ludicrous heights. In addition, he has enhanced endurance, barely flinching when assaulted by Chris with a steel pipe. This is, of course, coupled with his prior physical prowess. He is trained to handle a vast number of firearms, and his police training have left him as learned as he is powerful.
