As I turned on the radio this morning, I heard commentary from the 83 year old son of Admiral Kimmel, the military leader scapegoated by FDR's administration for the bombing at Pearl Harbor in 1941. It was interesting to hear he had spent the better portion of his life working to clear the name of his father and to uncover and report the true blame ( Read more... )

Sometimes it is hard to come across as grateful when you don't agree with the current political agenda of your 'elected' leaders. I have great respect for anyone who joins the armed forces and I believe they should be well provided for. But exaggerated and often mismanaged military spending really upsets me because it affects basic public functions that are already defenseless and struggling.

Many are calling for a long-deserved reform. However, it still continues to be a long battle. (or a long post full of too many links, who knows ( ... )

To clarify: I am not blaming the lack of funding for Detroit public schools on Bush's administration. I am merely citing an extreme example of how far the system (including State and Local government) has failed in supporting its constituents.
