Progress and the future.

The past couple days have been very nice. Wednesday, I went to Szechuan with Mom for lunch then hung out at home for most of the day. I phone tutored that night (boo) and got to talk to Jessica (and various other people at her house) for a good while. Belgarath the Sorcerer might be my favorite single book of all of Eddings'. It's tough, though, since he has SO many good series. I just started The Dreamers a few days ago, and it's the weakest of his series, but it's still highly enjoyable. Have you read the Elenium and the Tamuli? Those are very high quality.

I have read neither of those, though I've heard good things. I agree that he's very good and remember enjoying Belgarath very much - but I wonder how much of that enjoyment was excitement at finding a new book that continued with an already-beloved character. That is, coming back to the book now after having gone years without reading Eddings, I have more of a perspective of someone who might just pick it up without reading the Belgariad or the Malloreon, and I'm liking the book less than last time. 'Course, I'm only about a third of the way through it, but that's what I'm observing for now. I'm sure I'll post more as I progress. :)

PS Are you in DC or Charlottesville (or somewhere else) this summer?

Thanks for the word! It's perfect, and spelled so beautifully. I hate when people agonise about misspelling when in fact said spelling is perfectly legitimate. :-D
1) I would love to see the HST website!!
2) I'm very excited about your meeting with the Rabbi - I feel like it is exactly what you needed to feel good about your summer.
3) What to do after you graduate is a dilemma....join the club! Of course, I have longer than you do, but at least you have an eventual goal... Although I think, for the time being, I'm feeling swayed in the direction of academia, but that's only for this week, you know how it goes.
4) You're being so good about posting on LJ - I've put all my journaling energy into writing you a letter, and haven't written here at all. Kudos to you for your journal writing skills :)
