I've heard noses on muffins form from over-mixing, but you cook a whole lot more than I do, so you probably know that theory and have dismissed it as not fitting with the available evidence.

Thanks for posting these--your kids are really cute! And you're not alone at not wanting to see Iris' hair cut. My mom cried when I cut my hair short in Peace Corps, and now it has indeed grown back!
