I'm so frustrated with nursing Neil that I almost don't want to breastfeed the next baby. (I will though, of course. Also, nursing newborns has been much easier for me than nursing toddlers.) He just screamed and screamed at me this morning - didn't want snuggling, didn't want a blueberry muffin, didn't want milk in a cup, didn't want to listen ( Read more... )

I do not think it would be mean for you to stop, even though Neil doesn't understand why it's over. He doesn't really understand what he's asking of you either, and it seems charitable to assume that if he did he might rethink it. Of course you know him much better than I do, so I don't mean to undervalue your instincts and judgment.... I guess I just want to say that I think that that tree in The Giving Tree may have taken things a bit far, and I think it's a good idea to save some trunk and branches and even apples for yourself. ;)

You know, it always bothered me that the Tree didn't grow more apples, like a regular apple tree does from year to year. :-)

I guess it seems to me that right now not nursing makes him more miserable than nursing makes me. But it could easily be that he's just much more vocal about it.

How was your experience nursing through pregnancy last time? Did you lose your milk? He could surprise you and wean himself when the milk changes.

Toddler nursing can be trying, that's for sure. Stick to whatever limits you need to stay sane.

Eh, it was okay. I mostly lost my milk, but it did not discourage Iris in the slightest. I was pretty worried about pre-term labor once I knew it was twins, and strict about making her stop if I had more than 1 BH contraction. Before I knew it was twins, I was tired and a big lump of no fun, so we spent lots of time on the couch either nursing or reading.

Oh how exciting! Were you trying? I'm great...busy to borderline insane at times, but we are managing to have fun...what are the chances of more twins? How do you feel? When did your fertility return? We are coming up on 6mos. And I'm still bf'ing round the clock and co sleeping so I'm wondering if the 6 month rule still applies...

I'm so happy for you!
