I'm so frustrated with nursing Neil that I almost don't want to breastfeed the next baby. (I will though, of course. Also, nursing newborns has been much easier for me than nursing toddlers.) I do not think it would be mean for you to stop, even though Neil doesn't understand why it's over. He doesn't really understand what he's asking of you either, and it seems charitable to assume that if he did he might rethink it. Of course you know him much better than I do, so I don't mean to undervalue your instincts and judgment.... I guess I just want to say that I think that that tree in The Giving Tree may have taken things a bit far, and I think it's a good idea to save some trunk and branches and even apples for yourself. ;)

I guess it seems to me that right now not nursing makes him more miserable than nursing makes me. But it could easily be that he's just much more vocal about it.

Toddler nursing can be trying, that's for sure. Stick to whatever limits you need to stay sane.
