Literature Entry The Ninth

"The key question that Shakespeare asks throughout his plays though -and especially in his last play "The Tempest"- is "do we have to be on the stage all the time?" Is there a time in life when we can -if only temporarily- get off the stage, and simply be ourselves? Which self? That is an important question for any and everyone.... These are ( Read more... )

hahaha Bec this is funny as. You've really captured the retail-employee mind. Although, a couple of times I have been ignored at an outright question :( maybe it's your superior customer service skills, maybe it's the mind control aspect of the dim lighting in dusk, and the aromatherapy, and the mesmerising music. I wonder what they would do if you came up screaming "BUY BUY BUY STUFF OR I'LL KILL YOU"?! Well done!

oh that sounds great! Id love to read it. Maybe you could also have a villian called The Foreigner, who slowly wears down Shopgirl's energy by asking the same question over and over again in an impossible to understand accent, despite the question already being answered. But thats more applicable if SHOPGIRL works in the Western suburbs.

Hey Rebecca,

I think you really took on board what MG proposed and made it your own. You have captured the concept of "the worlds a stage" by showing us that we all play roles in life, and work is certainly one of those places where we put on our acting hats and go for gold. For every person we talk to during our day there appears to be a different side of ourselves that emerges and in your case its the Customer Service Queen. I wonder though....is these characters we become to please ourselves, or to please others? I may just try out your character at work if you dont mind either hehehe! Take care :)
