Meh.

Nixon use some wet eyes to score points in his campaign. It's not like it's unique to Hillary Clinton.

Honestly, if anything strikes me as proving a point about gender here, it's commentators rushing to pull out terms like "playing the female victim" over someone getting choked up. It's sad.

...even if I do agree with Dowd's hypothesis as to what her real emotions were there.

Gloria Steinam's op ed yesterday just pissed me off. Maureen Dowd is a shrewd fox and thats why I love her...and wouldn't kick her outta bed either.

I can't say I found that much to be pissed off about in Steinem's Times piece. I mean, if it didn't reflect things I see on a daily basis, I could easily find it to be wrong. I found it a little "off" but mostly in some of her conclusions.

thats what pissed me off...how she came to the conclusions. but after reading it again (in a less pissy mood) i see what she's saying more. but still...
1. 8 years of hil followed by 8 years of obama is a big if...and could be great...depending on many many things.
2. without sounding calloused, I feel the US is ready for a female president...but are some of the world leaders she would be dealing with ready for a female president. I haven't done much research...but Iran is going to become an increasingly bigger deal and if elected will Hillary have to do peace talks in a burqua? Just thinkin' out loud here.

oh, and every primary is simply a contest over who can raise the most money. every election in fact is based on on who can spend the most money. Always has been since the rise of television, and I'm pretty sure before, too.

It's sometimes the case, yes, but it depends. Romney outspent Huckabee 20 to 1 in Iowa and lost. He spent heavy in NH and lost. Now he's on the ropes. You can only cover up so much with money.

so not true!!! I mean, money is important but McCain won the NH primary in 2000 and 2008 with no money and nothing but the "straight talk express" bus. He didn't win the general election...but still.

And what about Jimmy Carter? He didn't have much money for his campaign. One term president, but still.

People say "cougar" like it's a bad thing! Rawr!

I think a "cougar" can be a GREAT thing. Especially if its the most delectible cougar of them all, Maureen Dowd.

Of course now there may be confusion in using the word "cougar" in the slang since the recent episode of 30 rock (which was hilarious). Basically the Jane Krakowski character introduced a new definition for a "Cougar". In the 30 Rock world a cougar is an older woman who goes after a younger man. It happened with hilarious results (my favorite would be when the Jane Krakowski character in hopes of being a "cougar" was dating an NYU freshman who really was a nerdy child). The episode even may still be online on the nbc website (and I do like to watch the show that way so NBC knows that people watch it). This is now a whole other type of politics.

Wait, is there any other definition of cougar? That's what I thought it meant out in the non-TRACYMORGAN world, too!

Check it: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cougar

I am so so so not hip. I mean...I thought a "cougar" was a lady who used her prowess and/or sex appeal to get her way...usually a woman with some experience in the world. Like you can't call a 15 year old a cougar.

But I may have been using the word incorrectly. And it took Tina Fey's writing to get me hip to it. Thank you Tina, and thank you Arse :)

Oh, and did you get my xmas card? I thought I wrote you one but in my "system" (read nerdy excel sheet) it was unclear if i did or not. Because I wrote another one and never sent it out b/c it would be embarassing to me if i sent you two xmas cards.
