funny (not the humourous kind) how the only time the country gets gravely concerned about the diseases of animals is when there is personal risk involved.
I am pretty sure that if avian flu / equine flu / foot and mouth disease was not to have any impact on human health, human consumption or financial gain, noone would really give a shit.

I may be travelling to europe at christmas in 15 months time.
