Israeli Driving

I will probably make a more substantive post about our trip to Israel, but I am going to start with some observations about Israeli driving. There are two main things I think of when I think of Israeli driving. The first is that they park on the curb (like you described), and the second is that the highways are very unsafe. I was in Israel about three years ago, and my uncle (who lives there) pointed out that over the previous few years (since I'd last been there in 2000) there'd been some changes in laws and a huge police crackdown on highway driving, all of which led to the highways becoming considerably safer--they used to be death traps when I was a kid. The rest of what you describe is the same sort of things you'd encounter in most countries outside of North America, based on my experiences in Europe and my sister's experiences in East Asia and India.

I'm glad you all "survived" your adventures. Personally, I hated the practice of beeping a second or two BEFORE the light turned green. It was very unsettling.
