Another rambling opinion...

photonutz allowed me the opportunity to see the photos that were originally planned for use in his section of Good Luck in Hell. In return, I promised to give him my honest opinion, for better or for worse. Here it is…
the lost section of GLIH... )

"To put in perspective how affected I was by this series of photographs, I will conclude by saying that I would have broken my own rule against posing nude if Sandy had asked me to be included in this project."

That is one of the most humbling statements of my work I have ever read. I would have felt very honored if you had posed for this.

I got to see a few of the lightpaintings, and I think he's wonderful as well : )

I really do like your critiques, I'm going to have to start asking you to look at my portfolio ;)

Also, you're right, he's an awesome photographer...someone else for me to pay attention to :)

TY! Have been watching what you have posted...your "straight" photography is well done - but I still like your swords and smoke the best :)

I have seen some Sandy's light painting and had the privilege of shooting one with him. Sandy's light paintings are some of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen. When I finally saw GLIH I was glad Sandy was not included. I, too, think his work would not have fit, furthermore (though I love GLIH) I think it would have degraded Sandy's work.

Nikka, I'm just curious, while I understand that looking at the book now it would seem that Sandy's work would not have fit, I wonder how you mean it would have degraded his work?

I have big problem with assuming people know what is going on in my head sorry. I was meaning in the eyes of main stream society.
Prehaps degrade was the wrong choice in words. I think it is a lot easier for society to view nudes such as the light painting and most of scott and viva's work as art than it is for them to bend thier perception enough to see the art in extreme fetish photography. I think I am an open minded person, but the was some pieces in the book that took me a while get past the reality of the subject and beauty. Does that make any sense?
