yeah, well, they used that section of the Patriot Act as the official reason why his visa was denied...which is bullshit enough by itself...but I think the motivation lies in the fact that a Catholic school didn't feel too comfortable with a prominent professor of Islam teaching on their campus. That's just speculation though....

But if they didn't feel comfortable, then they sure went through a lot of trouble appointing him to the position they offered. Seems kind of strange that Notre Dame would be behind this, but I don't doubt that the university may have been 'squeezed' to unappoint him the position.
