going, going ...gone.

Quito became a ghost town New Year´s Eve. Wandering down Mariscal with Ali, which is usually packed, was mostly empty, and almost all of the bars were closed. The viejitos were burning, making random bonfires with their paper mache bodies and wood chip flesh. Every once in awhile we saw one of the men who dress like women, in black dresses, ( Read more... )

I can't imagine it was a year of bad decisions. We all make them and, hopefully, learn from them. I've made more than my share and still make them, just not as disastrous as in the past. Our New Years was very quiet, just the way we like them. I made lasagna, hot rolls and had almond raspberry bars for dessert. Did stay up 'till 1:00 A.M. which is late for us so did get in my superstitious "rabbit".
Loving you....G

It wasn´t just a year of bad decisions, I was just mildly morose last evening. I agree, though, that they´re important for learning from, and I appreciate that they turn me into who I am becoming. My new years ended up quiet, too, which was what I really wanted, actually. My dinner involved steak, rice, and fries, so I am a bit carbed out. Seriously, when I get back to the states I want to drown in salad.

Explain the rabbit thing?

Love you.

To have good luck you must say rabbit before you say anything else the first of every month and especially the first of the year. I wake up from a dead sleep and say rabbit and gramps responds "bunny bunny".
I know it's silly but habits are hard to break,. And who knows, perhaps it works.

Ah, Der G'Par is the Prince of Bad decisions -- with the exception of marrying your fine g'mar.

Stay gruntled -- a new year is just beginning.

All Love, All the Time.

How can you be prince when I´m Queen? Seems improbable that I would have birthed you ;)

Life is good.

I love you Gramps.

I had one of those.

When I was right about the same age as you, actually.

Funny, that.

Well, look at is this way: if you are following in my stylish and ruggedly handsome footsteps, the next year will be better. Then after that will come a very, very good year.
The next year after that, you will become suddenly rich, famed and admired for your creative talents, and be laid ALL THE TIME.

At least, that's what I'm assuming is going to happen to me this year.

I´m hopeful.

And 30% Ben.

So yes, please do become suddenly rich, famed and admired for your creative talents, and laid ALL THE TIME.

You seem to look at the world through poetic, photographer's eyes. I love it.

thankyou, very much. E.O. Wilson, one of my biological heroes, says that the ideal scientist should write like a poet.
