Morrigan was like that at first - hid under the bed and didn't venture out of the bedroom for a while - but she finally made it out into the rest of the house. I'm sure Gracie will adapt. She's so fluffy, I just wanna pet her. :D
She is really soft, too. Reminds me of angora. She adores being petted and doesn't really know a stranger. She even lets children pet her.
Surprisingly, for all the fur and fluff, she's never really coughed up hairballs. The only real issue is that she needs the occasional 'hygiene cut'. That's where the groomer just clips the fur shorter in the under-tail area. She squirms too much for me to do it myself!
