Chase had a pencil between his lips, trying to wheel back and forth between about a dozen files that were unmarked and needed the new interview sheet in them (he needed to at least put some kind of order in line or else it all fell apart, all over) and glanced up at Marian, taking the pencil out of his mouth and trying to fix his hair slowly. It was as far as she had come in her plan. Mostly Marian found that she knew quite not else what to say. Saying the words aloud would give them truth; as of now they were simply thoughts in her mind, suspicions and not more.

A moment with her lips pursed, and then another, before she spoke. "I fear I may be pregnant."

Chase just stared at her for a long minute and kept his hands atop some of the files and the pages of interview leaflets that were going in (that needed to be filled out). "Sorry," he apologized, realizing he'd absolutely zoned out. "I thought I heard you say you were...pregnant?"

It is worse than she'd imagined, her hands balled tight in the soft linen of her skirt. Her face pulls together - a moment of panic, or very near it. Marian sits, unsure of everything at the moment. "It may be something else. But I should have- Over a week ago."

It is not easy to discuss these things, not with Rob even though she trusts him. He is still a man and a doctor, and to her these things are for women to deal with. Things to be hidden from men, even though her time here has relaxed her opinion on this. "I have heard there is a way to tell."
