Last night, I went to a concert.
Cute Is What We Aim For, Gym Class Heroes, Plain White T's, and Fall Out Boy. The show started at 7, and I got to the Municipal Auditorium a little after 5. The line was halfway around the building. So I walked my happy ass to the back of the line, and found that it reached all the way to the backstage doors. Almost immediately, the security guys were out there, telling us we needed to be in front of the buses, not beside them, and they put up the waist-high metal barricade fence.
Fangirls were hopeful. We watched the buses for signs of life, wondering who would appear. Then the security guard dashed our hopes, telling us the bands wouldn't emerge from the buses until the audience was inside because there was no use for them to be in the building yet. We sighed, and some moved on.
Not five minutes later, the door of the closest bus opened, and someone leaned out to whisper to the guard. A couple of seconds later, we were faced with a rock star. Teenagers screamed in glee. I kept my cool. I looked up and smiled and said, "Hi, Pete." In response, he lifted a hand in a tiny little wave and mouthed (or possibly said, I couldn't tell because of the screaming fangirls) "hi."
Pete Mother Fucking Wentz said hi to me.
He's also kinda short, which makes him cuter.
I waited around for a while longer, hoping to see the Fall Out Boy of choice (Patrick, natch), but he was a no-show for the next 15 or 20 minutes, so I got my frozen butt in line. The show was general admission, something that I never want to experience again (man, I sound old), but I got a spot about 5 rows from the stage. I have never been so hot, so squished, and so annoyed at other humans as I was last night. I honestly thought I was going to pass out during Fall Out Boy's set, as every time Patrick sang I felt lightheaded. (An aside: They had a t-shirt that had a picture of a kitten with the caption "I can has a Fall Out Boy?" Cat macros are everywhere!)
CIWWAF went on first, and they seemed to be good, even though I'd only heard one of their songs, and heard it only once. Plain White T's were next, and they started with Hate (I Really Don't Like You), which is probably my favorite of their songs. I really enjoyed their set. Gym Class Heroes came next, and I will admit that I'd only heard 3 of their songs before, but I still didn't get into the music the way I did with the other bands. They did put on a good show, even though I was bored.
And then the star of the show. Fall Out Boy completely rocked. They played almost all of my favorite songs, but I don't remember them playing A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me. They did an acoustic version of Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner, and a cover of Mr. Brightside. Overall, I think it might have been a better show than the one I saw last year. Either that or the Municipal has better acoustics than the Cricket Arena in Charlotte. Not that it really matters, because they're still my boys. <3
And I still have ringing in my left ear.
