I have officially spent 1/3 of my life parenting. Whoo! My kid was hella sick over my birthday so I am claiming a 'birthday do-over' next weekend. Like, he was so sick he didn't even want to watch Saturday Morning Cartoons. Failing the S.M.C. test = practically on death bed. Kid is better now, desiring sushi ( Read more... )

I need a cheerleading squad.
I bet if I put on a nice cheerleader outfit you'd laugh quite hard. Would that make a dent in the winter blahs?
And I like the punctuation on road signs idea. A lot funnier than when people tag them.

Yes on the rose cheerleading squad!

I think we could do lots of damage with more punctuation. (Speed! "Limit" 55)

LA sounds new and like an adventure...but if you don't do well in cars, that's a big thing to reconsider. In LA you can't really get anywhere without a car, and the traffic is bad, I think the lack of good public transport is a big drawback if you're used to it. But you do have sun almost all year, access to tons of cool places, the beaches!, etc. Hopefully visiting will solidify your ideas.
It does sound like you need more of the sun, but less time in a car, which makes the San Jose area make more sense. Good Luck figuring all of this out! When do you need to make a decision by?
Your games sound fun! I might have to try those with Chey.

Let me know if you come up with more free no prep needed word games.

Cars, yah. Logically Palo Alto makes more sense. Gurs. I don't know...

I think fairly soon I need to submit a rank order list.

The driving thing would be a biggie for me. And you just know that gas is going to shoot back up, starting Wednesday. From reading all your options again, it sounds like there really isn't a bad choice. That's a good thing, right? So it's just which one fits you best right now at this stage in your life, in Z's life.

And irt taking the kiddos out of school tomorrow. I'm thinking that M's school will be watching the inauguration anyway. Not sure which parts. But she'll see it. And then bits will be played and replayed on the evening news, etc...so I'm going to keep M in school.
Besides, she is interested - she truly is BUT the more I tell her how important this is the more her eyes glaze over!

That's a good thing to keep in mind...that all are good. I feel rotten taking Z away from here. But I feel rotten staying here, too.

I'm going to the Birchwood dinner and the Bedlam's inaugural ball

oh, that sounds great.
Q and I had rsvp'd to do the moveon "ball" in Diamond Lake. But it's been a long day and the couch is so attractive and well, here's the truth - I don't want to get dressed up!

oh, also... Palo Alto is really a nice place to live if you can tolerate all the rich people. We lived there for 3 years! If you do move there, say hi to all our old friends at the Country Sun health food store! (they are so, so nice) we come down there occasionally to go to our old homeschooling play group. <3, katie

Yeh I went to stanford and Paly is super nice place to raise kids, ignoring the people who send their preskoolers to SAT prep classes. I used to live close to the Country Sun store...and dumpstered them when possible.

Ugs I wish this were easier. So many things could be...it'd be great to meet up w/ you all!
