I'll do my catching up in five-book increments, howzabout. I figure I read these about last May or so.

I for serious want to read the food history book based on the title alone! that it has a glowing rec is like gravy.

I've read 1.25 books this year. Not my best foot forward for literacy. I tried to make up for it by reading through the backlog of a million and five magazines, though.

Magazines totally count as reading! Newspapers, too.

You'd like that food history book, I know. Oh, you'd also like that "Best of Southern Food Writing" book I had on the list immediately preceding this one. That one is right up your alley.

Oh yes, I noted that one as well!

My problem is that I prefer to read before going to sleep, and for so much of the beginning of the year, I just had to sleep when I could, that I didn't have that luxury often. It took me 6 months to read the 1 book I've read - it was a book about that woman, Elisa Wall, who escaped from that crazy Mormon fundamentalist cult.

Currently, I'm reading "The Time Traveler's Wife," which I thought would be easy and mindless, but I feel like I'm reading a math problem every time I have to figure out where in time Henry is and how. LOL

Oh, I read that Mormon cult book when it came out last year! I really enjoyed it. I can see why "normal" Mormons were so interested in making sure everyone understood they weren't like those in the book.
I also enjoyed "Under the Banner of Heaven". I worked with Mormons in Alaska and also in New Mexico. Nice people, but I don't really understand them.
